Midiri Brothers Jazz Sextet Referred to as a “sixsome with talent to burn,” The Midiri Brothers Sextet will make its first
Madison appearance at the fest. Twins Joe and Paul's swinging group plays a variety of styles rooted in the small jazz groups of the 1930s and 1940s. At their many performances at concerts and fests all over the country, the Sextet earned many standing ovations and encore requests. Their spirited, jazzy performances are certain to bring back memories for those who remember the heyday of
Dixie and Swing, while sure to please and intrigue those new to this exciting style. During the fest, the Sextet will present a tribute to Artie Shaw on the 100th anniversary of his birth. Red Lehr's Powerhouse Five What happens when five talented jazz musicians who are long on ideas and energy get together? Red Lehr's Powerhouse Five! David "Red" Lehr's guys engage in musical conversations that sizzle and scintillate. The group pays homage to the Benny Goodman small groups, Fats Waller and his Rhythm, and the Eddie Condon bands. Expect everything from Gershwin to Cole Porter, from
Dixie to danceable. Noel Kaletsky's reeds, Steve Lilley's cornet, Ray Templin's piano and vocals, Don Schroeder drums, and "Red's" sousaphone, weave a seamless jazz fabric that delights audiences. Inspiration and intuition at their best! |

This group of versatile musicians, who occasionally swap instruments on stage without missing a note, will have your feet tappin' from their very first set!
